Ways to
Volunteer
There are lots of ways to help in our efforts:
Interviewer
- all that is required is a video camera (any standard type) and the desire
to preserve the memories of our veterans and home front workers. A
typical interview is 60-90 minutes in length. Instructions on how to
get started are available. Whether you do a single interview of a
family member or become a serious interviewer willing to sign up for 20-50
interviews in a year, your efforts are very important to us.

Interviewee
- if you want to tell your story, let us know and we will do our best to
line you up with one of our interviewer volunteers to preserve your story.
As we grow, we do not have volunteers in all parts of the country but we do
work in cooperation with other Veterans History Project partners who may be
able to interview you if we can't. Also, a friend or family member can
conduct your interview - we can tell you how to do it.

Donate Money
- Some of you want to help but do not have the time or equipment to do
interviews. A great way to help is to donate money to our
organization. As a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation, all donations are
tax deductible to you and will help us with our goal of doing 10,000
interviews over the next three years.

Publicity
- One of our challenges is getting the information about this project out to
all Americans. If you want to represent Americans Remembered by
helping us publicize our efforts, let us know and we will provide the
materials you need to get started. We are always open to creative
ideas from our volunteers. Access to local media outlets and to
church, civic and veterans organizations in your area are great places to
publicize the work of Americans Remembered and the Veterans History Project.

Organizing Events
- Fund raising events, military recognition events, school events - all are
great opportunities to help raise money and publicize the work of Americans
Remembered and the Veterans History Project. We will work with you to
help you meet the objectives of our work. If speakers are needed, we
will help you find speakers, if ideas on what others have done are needed,
we can provide those. Again, we are open to suggestions from our
volunteers on how to further our goals of preserving memories of America's
veterans and home front workers.

"I can't tell you how many vets have said, that
while their families had asked about their WWII experiences many times, it
is only in the last five years that they have wanted to talk. We need
volunteers to help hear their stories and preserve them for posterity.
I'm glad I'm here to do it."
