"Each day we lose 1,700 of our WWII veterans - those stories are lost forever and will never be told unless we preserve them now while they are still with us."

Finished interviews in the Library of Congress.  Ours will be added to these.

What is Veterans History Project?

  • Public Law passed unanimously by Congress on October 27, 2000.

  • Honors our nation's war veterans and those who served in support of them by creating a lasting legacy of video-recorded interview and other documents.

  • Time is of the essence as we lose 1,700 veterans to death each and every day of the year.

  • American public - volunteers - are key to our success.

  • A national collection of personal histories on audio and videotape - as well as letter, diaries, maps, photographs, and home movies with ultimate plan being to have access over the internet.

  • Encompasses veterans of all branches of service and from all wars, WWI through today's War of Terror, plus those involved in home front activities and citizens who supported them.

  • As of September 2003, only 10,000 stories were on file - much work is needed to preserve as many memories as possible from America's 19 million veterans from all wars.
