Bob
Babcock
President
and Founder
For as long as I can remember, I
have had a passion for military history and for veterans. Now that I
have retired from a 34 year career as an IBM sales and marketing executive,
I am blending my passion with the skills I learned at IBM to drive this
national effort of Americans Remembered as an Official Partner of the
Veterans History Project.
|
My qualifications include
serving as a rifle platoon leader in Vietnam; writing the books, "War
Stories - Utah Beach to Pleiku" and "What Now, Lieutenant?"; serving as
president of the National 4th Infantry Division Association in 1998-2000 and
historian/archivist of the association from 2000 to present; and being a
member of the Atlanta Vietnam Veterans Business Association, Vietnam
Veterans of America, American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars. My
IBM experience includes a long stretch of management and executive
assignments in sales and marketing across North America.

Jan Babcock, Vice
President
The daughter
of a WWII and Korean War Marine, and the wife of our Vietnam veteran
founder, Jan is devoting her considerable talents to lead our fund raising
efforts. Jan worked at IBM in various sales, marketing, and management
roles and has run her own business. Jan is also responsible for our
marketing and publicity and works closely with our president doing whatever
is required as we continue to build our organization.
"Every story is important. This is the
only way our young people will have any opportunity to touch and feel the
experience of those veterans."

Gary Swanson. Director
Gary is a Director and our most prolific
volunteer. A retired IBM branch manager living in the Kansas City
area, Gary has done 200 interviews with WWII veterans since starting work
with Americans Remembered in late January 2003 and continues to do more
interviews.

"My motivation then became
three fold - helping the Veterans History Project, helping Bob Babcock and
Americans Remembered, and then my greatest motivation - making sure that the
veteran's story would be preserved for his family and legacy."

Mark Babcock,
Operations Manager
Mark, a second year student at the University of Georgia, is our Operations
Manager. Mark's responsibilities include taking interviews submitted
to us and copy them into DVD format to insure we have the latest digital
technology to send to the Library of Congress for the national archives.
Additionally, he makes VHS copies to return to our veterans for their family
archives and insures all interviews are logged and properly submitted to the
Veterans History Project. "As I process
these interviews, I see more and more the stories of personal sacrifice and
why we owe so much to our veterans."
